Jim Rickards: The Climate Cover-Up
On September 2, something strange happened across America’s biggest newsrooms.
CBS, NPR, CNN, ABC, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times — all of them — broke out in perfect harmony.
Their song? That a new Department of Energy (DOE) report questioning mainstream climate orthodoxy was “flawed,” “lacking merit,” and “full of errors.”
Each report used the same buzzwords, the same “85 climate experts” and the same prepackaged verdict.
The target of the media’s synchronized assault was a group of five scientists — John Christy, Judith Curry, Steven Koonin, Ross McKitrick and Roy Spencer — who had published a DOE report called A Critical Review of Impacts of Greenhouse Gas Emissions on the U.S. Climate.
These are not political operatives. Christy and Spencer developed the first global satellite temperature dataset. Koonin served as Undersecretary for Science under President Obama. McKitrick is Canadian; Curry walked away from academia after watching the research process get politicized beyond recognition.
None of that mattered. Within hours, the press branded them the “Trump Team” — a convenient way to discredit scientific research without addressing the data.
But Paradigm’s former White House insider Jim Rickards says that a decade ago representatives from major media outlets met behind closed doors.
They decided the “climate change narrative — what I call the Green New Scam — was losing traction," Jim says. People were tuning out.
So, he says, “the media decided a full-court press was needed.”

Defying the Green Grift
From that moment on, climate change was woven into nearly every news story — no matter the topic.
“A story on automobile manufacturing had to mention electric vehicles,” Jim says. “A story on the Alps had to mention how warmer weather was hurting the ski industry.”
The goal was simple: to keep fear alive. “We were propagandized day and night, story after story, about climate change regardless of the topic at hand,” he adds.
“Everyday citizens were scared to death that subways would be inundated, islands would be underwater, hurricanes would destroy their favorite resorts and desert heat would destroy the food supply.”
The payoff was even simpler: trillions of dollars in wealth transfers and subsidies, funneling through the hands of what Jim calls “Green New Scammers” — a global class pretending to save the planet while cashing checks.
But then real science showed up. “Experts who were not part of the Green New Scam showed that CO₂ had almost nothing to do with climate,” he says.
The true drivers — “sun cycles, volcanos, ocean currents and other large-scale phenomena” — were simply beyond human control.
And as Jim points out, the climate has always changed: “The Roman Warm Period, the Medieval Warm Period, the Little Ice Age — all long before factories or SUVs.”
Sea levels, he notes, “are rising about seven inches per hundred years… barely enough to get your feet wet in the 22nd century.”
So when the media now move in lockstep to suppress debate — labeling dissenters, smearing scientists and elevating “85 experts” with sketchy credentials — it’s not about science. It’s about control.
Jim calls it what it is: “a psychological operation — a psyop.”
And that brings us back to the heart of Jim’s American Birthright thesis…
America’s real inheritance is the right to question power, follow evidence and develop our own abundant resources — from oil and gas to nuclear and next-generation renewables — without bowing to bureaucrats or media gatekeepers.
“The truth will set you free,” Jim says. And that truth begins with seeing through the fog — and reclaiming the energy, the industry and the independence that make up our American Birthright.
