MTG vs. AOC

Marjorie Taylor Greene resigned from Congress this year on Jan. 5 — just shy of the five-year anniversary of the Capitol riot. This after a public breakup with Trump that nobody saw coming (and everyone probably should have.)

Trump called her a “ranting lunatic.” In turn, she called the MAGA machine beholden to “the Military Industrial War Complex” and “Big Pharma.”

Then a U.S.-Israel coalition attacked Iran over the weekend (Feb.28), and suddenly MTG issued a scorched-earth manifesto on X hours later:

In a long post on X, Greene writes that Trump’s negotiating on behalf of “the Iranian people” — not the Americans who elected him.

No, MTG hasn’t announced a 2028 presidential bid. But four sources tell News of the United States (NOTUS) she’s been telling allies she wants one. (Greene publicly denies she’s running.)

She resigned from Congress. She’s softening her profile in ways that make sense only if the destination is a national stage… Hell, she even went on The View!

There’s no dedicated “MTG will run in 2028” contract on Kalshi or Polymarket yet — where people bet real money on real-world outcomes.

The Odd Couple

Then there’s 36-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

She’s become a small-donor machine — including a $9.6 million quarter — and she’s packing arenas on the “Fighting Oligarchy” circuit with Bernie Sanders.

Axios reports her team is keeping two doors open for 2028: a presidential run or a New York Senate race that could eventually collide with Chuck Schumer.

On prediction markets, Polymarket currently prices her around 9% for the 2028 Democratic nomination.

And she’s been just as ferocious as MTG when it comes to Iran. Which they both might find uncomfortable…

No more foreign wars. MTG calls the Iran strikes a betrayal of the “No More Foreign Wars” promise MAGA ran on. AOC calls them unlawful and unnecessary.

Housing is broken. Young people “can't afford to buy a house or even their rent payment,” says Greene. AOC introduced the Homes Act, citing that a minimum-wage worker can need ~104 hours a week to afford a two-bedroom rental.

Healthcare is unaffordable. Greene says voters “can't afford health insurance.” AOC has spent her career advocating Medicare for All.

Billionaires run the government. Greene says Trump is a billionaire governing for the benefit of billionaires. AOC has said the same thing about the donor class for years.

Younger generations are being left behind. Greene even frames her post as a generational indictment — younger Americans will inherit debt, war and a worthless dollar. AOC’s entire political identity is built on the same argument.

Somehow, MTG and AOC have arrived at identical conclusions from opposite directions, which is either a remarkable coincidence or a sign they’ve tapped into something that’s eluded lawmakers in both parties.

Because somewhere in America right now, a 28-year-old who’s struggling to pay for her insulin is nodding at an MTG post… and an AOC tweet… within the same hour.

And she doesn’t find that odd. Instead, she finds what they have to say obvious. Politicians might want to pay attention.
